That's weird. in HS 90% of the time we could sit wherever we wanted on the first day, then that'd be your seat for the rest of the year.

I loathed assigned seats. I'm really short, so I would inevitably end up stuck three seats deep in a row, leaning over just to see the board, because the teacher would lazily seat us in alphabetical order. Yes, I asked to be moved closer to the front and was told no. Multiple times. I also almost always got put in front of this absolute bitch who would shove her enormous feet in the shelf under my desk.

I absolutely adored college and the freedom to sit wherever I wanted.

I liked being able to sit anywhere, since I was cool with people in most of my classes, but I also liked assigned seating because I liked having "my own seat", and someone would sometimes take a spot that I'd sat at previously, and I'd get irritated.

Luckily my last name is usually alphabetically first so I always got the first seat or two.
