Beginning was kinda slow but still enjoyable. The spider sense scene was awesome, same with the illusion scene right before he gets hit by the train.

The only thing I didn't like is that they killed Mysterio. Would have been a perfect set up for S6. Also, I wish there was at least an Easter egg or something for Norman Osbourne existing in the universe.

But fuck it JK Simmons playing an Alex Jones type J J Jameson is perfect. Glad the PS4 JJ caught on.

I think there's enough wiggle room to bring Mysterio back if they want to. He can remain a projection if Beck is dead. But the glasses never actually confirmed he was dead. Just that he was no longer using projections. That doesn't take any practical fuckery into account.

His post-death plan was executed so well that I find it hard to believe he didn't plan a fake death as well.

I dunno he looked pretty damn dead. But who knows. I hope they do bring him back cuz he was great. I like how they tied his origins back to Stark.

They specifically showed that bald dude taking the drone/projector information on the hard drive. Thought that was a clear cut indicator that he'll be the next mysterio

That could also be him taking the footage to edit and send to JJJ.

Yeah this is what threw me off. Did he just do that to be a dick and get some post mortem revenge on spiderman or was he planning something bigger?

Also how the fuck is Peter going to finish school now lol

Yeah, he's basically a human Loki in how easily they can handwave his death away. Unless Gyllenhaal is just not available when they film Spider-Man 3 I fully expect he'll be back.

Yeah, I really liked it.

Only thing that kinda bothered me was Mysterio was kind of similar to Syndrome from the incredibles. But Jake Gyllenhaals acting and those mind fuck illusion scenes made up for it.

Oh yeah, the illusion scene where Peter is just getting his ass beat and then the Peter Tingle scene at the end are some top tier MCU scenes. I might go see this again Friday just for those

Peter is a genius so he doesn't really need to.

Ideally they boot out the school stuff and do something fresh with Peter. Which seems to be what they're going for. I'd be really disappointed if they pussied out on the identity reveal like the comics did.

That was clearly him getting the footage to send out.

I'm a bit conflicted about the secret identity thing. It's such a critical aspect of Spider-Man and there's no one in the MCU with a secret identity. I liked how Peter has a normal life between his superhero shit.

But I will wait and see how they handle it. I've pretty much accepted that this isn't a traditional Spider-Man adaptation at this point.

So, what actually was it that killed Mysterio? I thought him getting shot was part of the illusion. After all, it was his hologram on the ground pretending to be shot and Beck had coordinated a new one with his crew before Spider-Man arrived. He seemed unharmed when he tried to shoot Peter, then just dropped dead. Maybe I missed something, but it seemed like he faked being shot to get a stealth attack on Peter then died for no reason at all.

Also, in the earlier illusion scene, where lots of spider-men were beating up Peter, were the drones bouncing on him or something? Did the crew come out to beat him up then run off to hide again?

Work in progress, please be patient.
