Like the Ice Cream licker. I'm sure a lot of people know her from work, school, neighbors, etc.. Wouldn't it just take a few hours to find out who it was?

Instead of calling the police, they called her and tried to blackmail her.

I assume it takes time to get word out to those people, then for those people to respond. Most people probably dont come forward immediately..theyre gonna have a little crisis and think Wow, should I really turn her in? This feels big..what if its not actually her? Etc. Then it probably takes time for law enforcement to get the ball rolling on furthering the investigation and making sure it actually is her, doing paperwork, etc. Then I guess you try and contact other people who know her, do more paperwork, eventually try for a warrant or whatever, more paperwork.

I can see it definitely dragging out. Especially since government employees dont tend to be the best in time efficiency in my experience.
