The metroidvania genre already peaked

Hollow Knight is the greatest metroidvania game of all time

Hollow Knight is amazing but far from perfect, I hope they fix the problems in Silksong.

What problems are present in it?

My personal wishlist for Silksong:

- being able to see where you are on the map by default (no more charm for it)
- Dream Gate or something like it being given to you at the start of the game (or just way more benches in general), to prevent having to re-do things ive already done, for example if theres a long, complicated path from the nearest bench back to the boss that just killed me
- landing on spikes/acid no longer teleports you back to an earlier part of the room, you just land on spikes/acid and get hurt until you die or leave like every other video game
- everything or nothing reacts to damage (only the player reacting to damage is stupid and makes no sense)
- no more standing in place and holding a button to heal system, or at least a charm eventually that makes it happen automatically when you have enough Soul, such a clunky time waster

Fair, but I think the map is easy enough to navigate without the charm. The map matches up visually with the rooms in the game very well. Just pay attention to landmarks on the map and you can tell where you're at. For convenience though, fine.

Dream Gate early, no. More benches, sure.

So "be like every other game" when it is how it differs that makes Hollow Knight stand out. Nah, good on keeping that.

Makes the combat flow better by not having everything react to every little hit.

Get good and time your healing better.

Autohealing would be an awful mechanic in a game that relies on the same resource you heal with for a variety of abilities

What a terrible fanboy glossover of an obvious flaw.

Teleporting back to the beginning when you hit spikes/acid is objectively stupid, clunky and annoying. Its not some artsy fartsy unique approach, its bad game design.

Also only you reacting to damage is objectively stupid as well, if your combat is dependent on an incredibly illogical setup then its poorly designed. If the combat is that dependent on it then just have no one react to damage so itll be unaffected. All or nothing should react to damage, not only the Knight.

Get good and time your healing better.

Having to stop and heal every time you get hit as youre walking around ruins the flow of traversing areas, its not just boss fights.

You can think a game is amazing and admit it has flaws, guy. I know you love it (I do too) but admit that it is not perfect and can be improved in the sequel.
