Its pretty fun ngl. Im at chapter 2-3 rn.

I will say the tank controls still feel kinda weird and hamper me when Im panicking with a lot of enemies around.

Also, Im miffed that the slow-mo bug on PC forced me to set the game to run at 30FPS.

I got this game and REmake 2 during the Summer Sale. Is the Ada stuff worth doing after I beat RE4?

The red one. Whatever thats called. I heard thats the best handgun.

Ive been leveling all of my guns except for the rifle because I heard you rarely use it and you get a better one later anyways.

Just play the remake of 1.

Also tc, don't invest much if anything at all towards upgrading your early guns. Most become obsolete compared to your new guns halfway through the game.

I'm a big Resident Evil fan

A few notes:

4 is considered one of the best. But it was also the one that decided to go with action horror rather than survival horror.

If you're considering checking out other RE games know this:

5 and 6 are terrible unless you play co op with friends, in which case they are mediocre.

And 1,2,3,7 and the two remakes are not action horror, they are survival horror. With keypuzzles, inventory management, slower pace etc.

I highly reccomend that if you enjoy RE4 you check out the recent RE2 remake that is fantastic

5 was great fun it just wasn't scary. And the hate for 6 is completely overblown. It's a bit of a mess, but still a decent time. Especially at the current rock bottom price.

Had it not been named resident Evil it would've got almost no hate. The reluctance of a fan base to be objective towards a series that breaks tradition is a detriment to gaming.

It also would have recieved no love, no notice and no sales as an incredible poor single player throwaway game and a medicore throwaway co-op game.

If it was Captain Smith's African Adventure it would be like The Misadventures of Tron Bonne.

Ever heard of The Misadventures of Tron Bonne?

No?

Exactly.

People only gave RE5 the time of day because it had Resident Evil plastered on it, that's why it sold so well despite being so meh. It had the name value and followed on from 4 with a ton of hype.

The reluctance of a fan base to be objective towards a series that breaks tradition is a detriment to gaming.

Wut?

RE4 was beloved and that was the one that broke tradition.

If you're looking for more RE4-style gameplay, go for the Revelations games. If you want balls-out action, go with 5 and 6. I don't personally like 5 that much, but people do still get enjoyment out of it. 6, on the other hand, is an action masterpiece.

It's worth remembering that all reviews are subjective personal opinions, and if you personally enjoy the game then they shouldn't really get to you. Unless of course there's a despicable little niggling doubt in the back of your mind, that maybe you're not having as much fun as you've convinced yourself you're having, which doesn't go away no matter how many times you try to slap it down with the wet flannel of weak excuses, like this one. ~ Yahztee

Yo RE5 was fun and Mercs Wesker and super punch Chris was legit.

RE6 had Wesker Jake who was great and also had a great mercs mode and you were agile af in that game.

CE sucks.

When RE4 came out there was nothing like it. Literally Gears of War was inspired by its camera and quick time events were born. Ran through that game maybe 100 times on normal and professional.

atmosphere was good and its VR was great, but it just didnt do much for me. the combat did not really feel good, the enemies were boring (and the second half goes into those parts which i dont care for), too many boss fights and events that strip control away trying to scare you, the second half goes down the drain in general, story was boring and not entertaining even in a bad way. its an alright game, but not much more. more power to you for enjoying it through.

realy looking forward to RE3 remake and not saying Re3 isnt great, just that id put those other 3 above it, but then thats not saying much since i feel most games in the core series to rank from good to incredible. i dont consider any game in the core series to be bad, even 6.

If you like RE4, I think RE5 is worth playing, you might want to pick it up after you finish RE2make or something. I enjoy it more than RE4 tbh, even with an AI partner. Its like a refined RE4, and has the best Mercenaries mode in the series.

I just finished playing RE4 on the PS2 a couple of days ago. I died like 200 times on professional. I hadn't played the game in a long time. I think the last time I played it was in 2010. It was freaking hard especially since I'm used to current control standards. I also forgot how many bad guys you face in this game. I go to one area and I fight off like 20 baddies. Then I move forward to the next area and another 20 to 30 baddies. I'm like fuck give me a break. Then the next room more baddies and a mini boss baddie. I'm like you're shitting me!? It's a fun game though. It does change up a lot to make it feel different. You get a lot of interesting surprises to keep you on your toes.

It is rather different from the older RE games as others mentioned and there's a few enemies that I find pretty horrifying and some areas that reallly pissed me off but aside from that it's still a great game!

Besides a few times in the beginning where they flood you with enemies while youre struggling to learn the tank controls the spawns arent that bad. Ive mostly died to QTEs, bosses and... health greed because I dont want to use up all of my health supplies because Ill need them later.

There's almost no reason to start on easy as the game is already easy as shit. The only thing that'll get the best of you is some of the fear in the game or the QTEs. The gameplay and enemies themselves are all ez pz. And even if you die, you'll respawn from the last checkpoint with no punishment other than end game rating. The shotgun and grenades will clear out anything and everything for you if you aren't already decent with the pistols.

Thats the infamous Water Room. Many players cite that as the most difficult section of the game, though I tend to disagree.

I know it sucks but its probably better that youre playing on 30 FPS, as the games coding is tied to the frame rate and was coded with 30 FPS. Certain mechanics, namely the enemy AI, is noticeably amped up at 60 FPS. The game is much more difficult at 60 since the enemies are much more aggressive.

Other than that I pretty much agree with everything you said.

People have argued with me saying RE4 has something of difficulty scaling system where it can detect how well or bad you're doing and can adjust to you live in-game. I'm pretty sure that's true, however, that's hardly a difference maker in making the game harder. The game is still easy no matter what.
