Because the MAJORITY of people in the country are overweight to some degree and it's going to cause a health-care crisis in thirty years when they all have mobility issues and diabetes and heart disease and there isn't enough people to go round to treat then and care for them adequately.

it was an important resources that was kinda hard to get, and during the course of evolution programmed us to like it.
