I remember going to a local comic book store when I was younger, and the dudes who worked there were like, "quick question, do you find Jinx from Pokemon to be offensive/racist?"

that shit totally caught me off guard, lol.

Idk I did find it weird when white people were debating over Apu in the simpsons with that little documentary the problem with Apu.

I'm Indian myself, born in India. If I wanna hate that character just let me do it ight. lol

It sometime does because it gives off the impression of simplifying the fact that I can you know understand context on a issue and form my own view of the matter (plus you quickly in most cases can sense underlying racialism/hostility)

I feel like her design was inspired by minstrel-like imagery like Mr. Popo's, but since Japan has a different history than ours, idk if it's intentionally racist.

so I don't want to make any claims either way.

but i do feel as if we need to have white ppl on our side and understand the suffering/injustice of being a minority for there to be any actual change

so if they're angry in a hashtag warrior way then that's not good enough. but if they're offended because they truly believe (and understand) some of the stuff we put up with bullshit then we need more of ppl like you

This. The thing I hate more is people saying "oh minorities don't want you to stand up for them" and all the right wing talking points where they pretend to care and prop up the minority that agrees with them.

I was referring to stuff like the Apu controversy or the girl who wore the chinese dress. Of course, I think white people defending minorities from things like "the black face"(who's intentionally racist) or insults is fine. But their is some controversies that I genuinely wondered if it was actual minorities who were annoyed or just white people on your behalf.
