Technically. But like a sgt major has more clout than most LT's or CPT's even if he can't tell them what yo do they'd generally respect his opinion. And he probably works side by side with a officer who outranks then

Yeah im aware of that. Granfather was a master seargent and would fuck with lower ranking officers cause he knew he could get away with it. Though once I think he did get in trouble for convincing a lieutenent that had to salute him.
