Florida says it's "Open Season" for residents after they are urging EVERYONE to KILL IGUANAS ON SIGHT as they are described as "invasive reptiles"

A Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission say people should EXTERMINATE the iguanas at any means necessary but doesn't say how they should rid of them...

They said "Homeowners do not need a permit to kill iguanas on their own property as the FWC encourages homeowners to kill green iguanas on their own property whenever possible"

They said female iguanas can lay nearly 80 eggs a year and the warm climate makes it perfect for the prehistoric looking animals where they are native in Central America

They said they cause damage to infrastructure by digging burrows that erode and collapse sidewalks, foundations, seawalls, berms and canal banks. They can also transmit salmonella bacteria through contact with water or surfaces from their feces

Like other non native species, these iguanas were brought as pets or ships as the Burmese Python is also wrecking havoc on the state

Iguanas are kept as pets but arent protected by any law except anti-cruelty to animals

Some people are resorting to even STOMPING the iguanas to kill them while others are using other weapons such as guns to kill them. Iguana owners are encouraged to surrender them to the agency if they don't want them sot hey can give them to people who will adopt

If they are an invasive species, then yes they should be terminated. They will have no natural predators in that food web and will eat uncontrollably many other species that are important to the food web.

I would stomp a few if I lived there.
