Occultist and Plague Doctor is pretty reliable if you gear speed accordingly, and you have substantial offensive power in addition to the heals against Eldritch monsters. An unnecessary risk a good portion of the time? Probably. I won't deny that, and it's inconvenient at times to spread the healing across two characters (as a necessity) rather than consolidate entirely in the Vestal. But yeah, Occultist on his own? Got one with Eldritch Slayer, Cove Tactician and Cove Scrounger so I always take him to the Cove. I tend to have at least one of each class.
