I got a phone call from "amazon" asking for my personal information, from a guy with a south asian accent and lots of background noise

This is almost ubiquitous with spam calls... so I called him out on it

Nah, he was legit an old amazon package I ordered...

Now I feel bad

edit: Of course, the guy laughed 'cuz he got 2 such calls last month, too

At least he wasn't mad.

What was it that you ordered anyways?

There's so many people getting their information stolen, can't blame you for being a bit paranoid. I had someone call me up for a job interview over the phone, claiming they were from Dupont, talking about an application I filled out months ago. They wanted to see if I was still interested at $30 an hour (hell yes). First a phone interview and then an interview plus some tests on my computer to see if I qualified.

Everything sounded so legit. They had called me and knew answers to questions not on my application. The giveaway was the computer portion

Started fine. All of a sudden, the test giver is having trouble tying. Went from perfectly articulated English to typos, easy to spot grammatical errors and smiley faces.

I emailed Dupont about them, the position, etc. They immediately messaged me back and said to stop now as they know nothing about them and it's fraud.

These guys knew things about me not public, got into a website and got my information and could've used that to easily fool me.
