Someone got into my PS4 account, made a bunch of family subaccounts, and racked up like an 800 dollar bill buying garbage western AAA games. I don't even know exactly how they would have done that, I don't think I've logged into my PSN account on any thing except my PS4 since I got it. I managed to delete the card info from it and change the password, and then the account got banned. Maybe sony caught it? idk. But neither my bank or Sony's CS are open on sunday so I'm not able to do anything right now except cancel the card and wait.

Anyone here dealt with fraud on PSN before? I need that money back for rent and shit, but I'm not sure whether to go through Sony or my Bank first. I think Sony bans your account if you run a chargeback through your bank, but I dunno if Sony is going to do anything except try to tell me they're going to credit the money to the PS4 wallet

this is why i never link my credit card to my account. if i want to buy something i buy a prepaid PSN card. you can get them on Amazon, get it emailed to you in 30 seconds and add it to your wallet in no time.

for awhile i was keeping my card the hell off of psn because they were hacked every other week, but i think i put it back on there a year or so ago and keep forgetting it's there i buy stuff on it so infrequently.

pretty pissed my bank's fraud protection didn't do anything about like 6 or 7 big transactions that all happened over the course of like two hours on a service i rarely purchase anything on, tbh

I'd say using your credit card is okay. Anyone using their actual debit card is just asking for trouble though.

Well, this pretty much convinced me to erase my card info on my PSN.

Yeah you should only have a credit card attached imo. Best thing to do is call your bank tomorrow. If you have BoFA theyll do a one time (for the year iirc) credit back to your account for the full charges while they investigate. Dunno about other banks.

Yeah, Im leaning towards that too. I have State Employees and theyve done that before for me a couple years back in a much more minor case
