Current Events > Wii U worth getting for the VC?

Debating on dropping the hundred dollars to get a used Wii U solely to play games like Ocarina of Time and Luigis mansion, but is the online going to be around for that much longer before they discontinue it? I have a feeling Ill go out and buy one and then next month theyll announce the VC coming to Switch or something, what shall a boy do....

I wouldn't wait on it, they seem pretty intent on killing off the concept of VC. I don't even know if they'll offer other systems other than NES for their NSO.

Also Gamecube games aren't included in Wii U's VC.

I mean youre better off putting that money towards a switch. They already killed it off on the Wii. Wii U is next and the switch will eventually get it all.

I have a switch already but have been hankering to play ocarina of time for a while now along with some other old N64 games

Up to you if you want it for a few N64 games but I wouldn't waste my time for an hour or 2 of nostalgia.

I love my Wii U for the VC and backward compatibility, and the Wii U games obvs. It gets a lot of play.

You can walk into GameStop today and get a Wii U with 3 good games for under $200. IIRC, the breakdown is as follows
NES games are $5
SNES games are $8
N64 games are $10
Wii games are $20
GBA games are $8
DS games are $10

Not 100% certain on exact numbers, but this is about what you should expect.

It has a Wii built in, which is just an upscaled Gamecube. Nintendo doesn't let you pay them money for Gamecube games, or put your Gamecube games into the console, because I guess they hate money, but it has flawless Gamecube loading built into the system.

The way I understand it is that the disc tray can't handle the smaller discs the Gamecube used, but the system is otherwise perfectly capable of running Gamecube games.

Yeah. So basically if you have a modded Wii U you can do it.
