Well this is fucked up, but Alabama law seems pretty clear about it. Shooter went free because it was self defense.

Why in the world they're actually charging a pregnant woman of manslaughter in this case baffles me despite their stringent laws regarding abortion.

This is Alabama so I don't trust their court systems.

However IF everything is as they say and the shooter really did this in self defense this is the right call. But once more it is Alabama so that is always something to question.

The guy who shot the pregnant woman got out on self defense. People, this woman was being a horrible piece of shit to deserve that. You know how difficult that ruling would be to get to even if she were threatening to kill several people?

She did some fucked up shit. Classic regional discrimination going on here. Alabama is a beautiful state despite its history.

Note: The below post is coming from someone that is 100% pro-choice, not a conservative in the slightest, and would absolutely love any opportunity to take a shit on states like Alabama, Mississippi, etc....

however, I don't think this is as unreasonable as people are trying to make it out to be. At least 3 times in the article it mentions that the pregnant woman started the confrontation, and one of those times it mentioned that she "continued the fight". Which makes it appear that she had opportunities herself to de-escalate the situation

If we are going to have laws that allow someone to be tried for a double murder if they kill a pregnant woman (which I don't necessarily agree with by the way), then I don't think it's too far fetched for them to charge manslaughter in this situation. Even if she didn't get shot, she could have easily been kicked in the stomach or something of the sort, causing her to have a miscarriage. And it would have been her fault for starting what appears to be a needless physical confrontation in the first place.

Look, if I'm reading this wrong, I'm totally open to having my mind changed. But I fee like some people are really misrepresenting this situation.

Also, making this about the recent abortion laws makes no sense. Even in the article posted in this topic, it mentions that 38 states in the U.S charge people with the murder of the fetus if they were to kill a pregnant woman. The decision to charge the mother in this case appears to be an extension of that and makes sense honestly, if we are going to charge people for double murder when they kill a pregnant woman.

Thats definitely an odd/strange thing to do. And it probably adds to their decision, but honestly I think there is a good chance that she would have been charged regardless
