Never used it myself as GIMP has always been more than sufficient for all the editing I've done.

I'm sure Photoshop is better in many areas though. There are probably training videos on youtube.

Initially, Photoshop has so much stuff in it that it's a bit overwhelming. But once you use it a bit and remember some of the hotkeys that are useful for you it becomes pretty easy to use.

What were you going to use it for?

Is it expensive AF? Do you have to do a subscription to get it?

I found GIMP a lot easier, but part of that might just be because I learned GIMP first and was trying to do things like I would in GIMP.

Do you specifically need to use Photoshop? Because GIMP is free and covers many of the same functions.

Adobe licences it as a monthly subscription packaged with Lightroom. It's 10 USD a month iirc

Fyi there's a free app Photoshop Express for mobile devices that works very well. If you have the Photoshop subscription you can even link it to your Adobe cloud and work on stuff wherever.

I dont think its too difficult, but it probably depends a bit on what youre trying to do with it. Animation took me a while to learn how to do in PS, for example. (And Ive already forgotten half of it now too)

Depends on what you are using it for. There are things I've never touched.

Mostly to create marketing materials - flyers, brochures, image editing and whatnot.

Trying to apply to some Marketing positions. I have already created those types of materials, but never using photoshop. Using stuff like Adobe Pro (which my company has a subscription) and then just random Microsoft tools (Microsoft Publisher) and other online stuff (campaign monitor) but I figured that I should learn photoshop.

With that said, would you recommend taking like a course or just going with online tutorials? I honestly have never even opened photoshop, so idk what to expect lol but I am not computer stupid either, so I doubt it would be that hard.

I think we (where I work at) have an active subscription and I may be able to get access to it if I ask.

I mean, I would like to list photoshop as a skill since it's more widly known. IDK if GIMP would have the same level of impact.

If you're creating print materials you should be using InDesign in tandem with Photoshop.

That is very useful information, what is InDesign?

I mean dont get me wrong, I am about to google it, but I still would like to hear from you.

Edit - a lot of the stuff I create is also used in digital form.

It's another Adobe program used specifically for creating pages for print. Things like magazines, brochures, flyers, etc. I'd still recommend it for creating print ready PDF documents for digital use. I have a Photoshop sub but I recently got InDesign (again) just for a month to create some professional product lists and order forms. Photoshop would have been so much more work for something that likely would not come out as well.

The thing about Adobe is you rarely use just one program for a task. All of the programs integrate with one another. They're meant to do that. They have a lot of software.

It's surprisingly well-known among people who do graphical work, but it doesn't have the same impact on HR and recruiters who have no experience in that domain.

Something that you'd like to have on your resume. Other than that, what the Foxx said.
