I make more than that with my base salary as a pest control tech. No college, either.

And to think that people want that in America.

What's the worst infestation you had to deal with?

Is this actually correct? Doesn't seem correct. I know NHS doctors on 60k.

I think there's some confusion about the process here. This is basically the intern salary. Doctors make a pretty comfortable wage once they get up and going.

German roaches in some old, very large woman's trailer. They were fucking everywhere, the woman was a hoarder, it was bad.

He's used the salary for the foundation year and put it in the wrong currency.

The topic is essentially nonsense

Figures

But it ties into the "see, this is what happens when liberals try to provide public healthcare" rhetoric I guess

Australia is a shit place to move to. This is coming from an australian.

Sure is but even low paid doctors in Australia earn 50,000

That's nearly double the 26,614 they will earn in the UK.

And a lot of the doctors will quickly end up earning more than 50k in Australia.

A lot of people would happily move to somewhere shit for double pay. Especially if that gets them out of debt/relying on loans

Yeah and the cost of living here is barely going to cover it.

Combined my wife and I earn $170,000 a year. We are below average earners in Australia.

No you aren't. That's nearly 3x the median household income.

https://quickstats.censusdata.abs.gov.au/census_services/getproduct/census/2016/quickstat/036

Median weekly income is $1438

Ours combined is roughly $2200 after tax, $3200 before tax

But the average weekly wage for full time workers was $1567.90 in the last financial year.

You never said you both work full time

Well, we do

Actually, the failure that is Obamacare, and the admission from Dems at the debates that M4A is going to increase taxes on everyone AND close hospitals because they aren't going to increase reimbursement under M4A, is what happens when liberals try to provide public healthcare.

Everything bad that Republicans said about the ACA actually happened, despite Dems repeatedly saying they wouldn't. Why should ANYONE believe liberals pushing for M4A now, when a bunch of them outright lied to us about the ACA?

It can be valid, but they are labeled as an international medicine grad.

Students who are carribean students are considered international med grads also, but are also "US citizens" since a majority who don't get into a med school in the US would go overseas to apply for these schools that automatically take them. IMGs have a much more difficult time to get matched (due to the reputation of these caribean schools not properly filtering the students they take, and the education (can't specifically comment on this because I didn't attend one, but I have heard bad things).

These schools blew up so it became "hard to ignore" in a way so these residents are more common and "notable" in residency at this point. But real IMGs (who are foreign, needs a working visa, have an even more difficult time getting matched in the U.S because some places do not accept visas.

So in terms of ease of getting matched

U.S. Allopathic > U.S. citizen IMG = U.S. D.O > foreign IMG

We invest 8 years of our lives, sacrificing significant life events to get matched into a program and we work > 80 hours a week for people who come in for ETOH abuse every other day for fucking minimum wage with 6 figure loans, we better get fucking paid 6 figures.

So the problem here isn't that public healthcare is wrong, it's that it was implemented badly in the US, with a half measure that didn't work.

When liberals try to provide public healthcare properly, you have a system that protects the healthcare of everyone, not just those who can afford insurance costs. You know, like pretty much every other 1st world country does already.

What this looks like in practical terms: my father receiving consistent medication for his crippling rheumatoid arthritis that he otherwise can't afford.

Republicans seem to have no problem at all with government overreach when it comes to military expansion, the war on drugs and lately suppressing the "fake news media". Strange that you don't seem to see giving people healthcare the same way.

Its almost like our conservative government is cutting funding to the NHS in a bid to privatise forcing it to hire cheaper doctors from other countries as well as cut all sorts of corners to make ends meet. But then our government cut the jobs of 10,000 Police officers in London and then wondered by the crime rate went up while your idiot president blamed the mayor who has no power to do anything about it.

I'd opt out of paying for the NHS if I could

The one time I've needed medical attention in the last 10 years I went private

No, they very much have protected the status quo, especially with the ACA.

Democrats aren't really for UHC. They might hint about it, but in the end they're completely bought out by pharma and insurance companies, and their actual legislation reflects it.

There's actually shockingly very little difference between GOP and DNC healthcare policies.

Which is sad because we do indeed need single payer.

So you never had vaccinations as a child, never benefited from having a population of children who grew up getting them?

To want to "opt out" of something you've damn well benefited from is a strange set of logic.

That seens criminally low.

Alot of people become doctors, and lawyers thinking they will make tons of money. But once it becomes an excess to the demand needed, this is what happens. They could always move to another country where it's more in demand though.

35k is about 12-13$ an hour. Which means you make about the same working at a fast food joint, or super market. That is not good, considering the profession.

Not very many people become doctors; the demand far exceeds the supply. There are too few medical schools with too few slots.
