few days ago i made a long rant why i don't like sekiro and ask if nioh is a better alternative

https://www.reddit.com/r/Nioh/comments/c2rx1b/i_love_dark_souls_but_dislike_sekiro_will_i_like/

exploration wise, nioh lose to souls because random loot and dark souls 1 at least have better levels, even nioh isn't that bad as people made it seem to be.

combat wise though, it is alot more fun than dark souls. the variety is just astonishing. you have 7 weapon types, stances, stands*ahem* i mean guardian spirits, skills and stats. i am only 2,5 hours into the game and feel like the combat and character building have immense depth.

I guarantee that people that liked dark souls and disliked sekiro dont like stealth games in general.

Im a big MGS and dark souls fan so stealth + dark souls was like a wet dream

sekiro core combat is good, but it gets too repetitive. plus the stealth system is legitimately bad. i get off by building my character and trying variety of styles. sekiro don't do that for me. the skills and ninja tools feels too substantial and you just use the sword 99% of the time with 90% the same moveset.

I don't understand how you can find Sekiro repetitive but not Nioh.

Oh that's why

Nioh drags on waaaaaay too long. Seems great at first, but the honeymoon phase quickly fizzles out

from what I've played, I've got to disagree.

Sekiro, first of all, has a more interesting art direction and world design, and exploration is rewarded and fun, IMO.

Sekiro also has more interesting enemies and bosses. in Nioh, things ended up feeling repetitive and often reused.

and even though Nioh has more weapons and stances that add different movesets, I thought that Sekiro's combat felt more engaging. like, the dude in Nioh can attack differently and so can the regular enemies that use weapons, iirc, but you end up seeing most of that stuff early on and it doesn't really switch up. in Sekiro, it feels like the basic gameplay is more simple, but as the game progresses, it builds on that and what you've learned.

I still like Nioh, though.

bro, i am a fan of stealth game from thief 1 on PC. sekiro's stealth is shit.

good stealth game have persistent level, enemies you killed or incapacitated stays down (or wake up if you choose non lethal) in sekiro, the enemies respawn in the same exact place, same exact movement pattern. you basically figure their spawn and pattern and do the same thing over and over again. stealth don't work with dark souls respawn system.

the AI is dumb as fuck. you can just kill their friend beside you as long you isn't in their aggro range.

i have played TONS of stealth game, some of them are stealth purist like styx: masters of shadow/shard of darkness or shadow tactics: blade of the shogun.

sekiro's stealth is SHIT.

it's just boring. as long as you git gud at parrying the game become easy. loot is pure shit. oh look another fucking mibu baloons!

skills aside from mikiri counter are useless ninja tools are also useless. it's forcing you to just use the katana. it gets boring after like 20 hours.

I guess it's just a question of the kind of gameplay people like. I don't think of Sekiro as either a stealth or loot game. Nioh also devolved into a gear grind fairly quick. A lot of equipment, but not that much mechanical complexity. I found the various scenarios in Sekiro much more engaging. Not that Sekiro didn't have its repetitive moments as well. Just not as many as Nioh.

Sekiro is better and harder. Nioh gets very repetitive with its reused levels. Longest Ive been stuck on a boss was maybe ten minutes. Soundtrack sucks, too. I give nioh a solid 7/10.

Im in the sixth region by the way. You barely started.

100% where i'm at. I loved the 3 Souls games I played. Sekiro I struggled with a lot, i'm not good at stealth games, i'm too impatient, and I generally don't enjoy playing them and it's probably my least favorite genre.

that's what i feel about sekiro. at first something just feels off. after 20 hours you figured you just stun lock bosses till their guard break and repeat the whole shit.

nioh feels so varied and colorful by comparison. switching weapons is seamless, between 2 melee and 2 ranged you equipped, you can switch stances, etc feels so seamless.

i'd argue even the core combat is better than souls.

that said elden ring looks hype because it is an RPG again. with builds! variety!

sekiro's problem is it want to be fast paced action game, but from and miyazaki be like "let's shoehorn some souls mechanics into it"
or it is an RPG but activision be like "remove attributes, different armors with different moveset, speed, weapons and other shit"
sekiro don't know what it wants to be.

Nioh was great to me because I'm a slut for both dark souls and diablo. End game builds are pretty cool but super end game builds usually devolve into hyper mods one/two shot builds or you yourself get one shot

I definitely disagree there. Sekiro knew exactly what it wanted to be. Whether they were anyone's cup of tea or not, the mechanics complimented each other very well.

well, at least from mainly RPG gamer perspective, i just see sekiro nothing but a downgrade.

for some people the lack of stat building is a positive i understand.
