Well it varies by anime. It also has a very "mean greater than median" distribution.

For example, if you just count the ten best or so, it's a 0/10 cringe factor, but if you count all of them, they probably average out to 9.8/10 or so.

The thing is, the majority of it is turbocringe.

Like, a lot of it that we get officially subbed/dubbed in the West is turbocringe, and that's after the turbocringe filter where they don't even bother because the West would hate it.

I have a hard time defining any sort of fictional work as "cringe". Only real life stuff really makes me cringe. Now, there's certainly some anime fans I could use the word cringe to describe, but anime itself? Meh.

25, anime has too much sentimental drivel in it. No concept of subtlety, just this incessant piling up of sad shit in some characters past in an endless effort to drag your tears out kicking and screaming.

Second is fanservice, no class. Just embarrassing sometimes.

Finally only the worst material in it tends to get famous. Akira is unwatchable, berserk is filth, neon genesis evangellion is juvenile tripe, and yet these are hailed as the greats.

No accounting for tastes and all that but still, just awful.
