Not just an 8 hour shift, an 8 hour shift running around on my feet all day lifting and moving heavy things, often without a single break. How the FUCK am I supposed to go to the gym and lift heavy or do a lot of cardio before that? I'll be way shittier at my job and probably get fired from having no energy.

Alternatively, how the FUCK do I go to the gym AFTER a brutal shift like that and not die during the work out, and go to work the next day?

It just seems impossible, man....

It's both, brother.

Because after you do the same job for 10 years your body gets used to it and doesn't build anything new, even though it's still tiring and painful.

- It's illegal in most(if not all?) states to work 8 hours without a single break.
- I doubt your job is that "brutal". You're just making excuses
- Hitting the gym properly will generally give you energy, not take it. There's a reason a lot of people work out in the morning before they "start their day".

Quit making excuses and go.

Yeah, but I work through breaks most of the time to get my work done so I can leave on time.

Dude, if you did my job you'd probably die, swear to god.

I don't believe that "gym gives you energy" horseshit for one second. It has NEVER worked like that for me.

I just cannot fathom this. How do I get to feeling like this? For a month now I've woke up at 4am, went to the gym until 6, left to go to work at 7 and I feel fucking AWFUL at work like I'm dying. And if I do it after work, I feel like shit at the gym and it's so fucking hard for me to wake up the next morning.

Go after work, I hate working out before work. Just pop some sweet, sweet NSAIDs and you'll be fine. There's nothing like listening to metal and going HAM at the gym to put a shitty day at work behind you.

If you have energy after a workout you aren't going hard enough, what the hell people? What are you doing, casually sauntering on the treadmill for 7 minutes and then curling 5 pounds in sets of 4?

Ok since your new to this I'll break it down for you.

When you first start working out daily your going to be exhausted, your body is not used to the strain, you will be in a bad mood easier, and you likely will not put up with a lot of shit from people.

After about 1-2 months your going to become used to it and be much less tired from the new routine but your mood will go back to being more normal.

3-4 months in and you will feel a little more energetic and feel like you have a little more energy to burn since your body has started to "strengthen up" and adapt to your new work out routine.

5-6 months in and you will have a lot more energy to burn and will NEED the work out, or some kind of physical activity to burn off the extra energy you have and your body is going to be much stronger, you will be able to tackle your day much easier, and you will have a easier time getting through the day.

It's going to suck ass when you start and you will likely want to "give up" multiple times but if you can get through the first 3 months staying true to your new routine you will reap the benefits.

Some days nothing is going to make your feet not feel like somebody spent 10 hours wailing on them with sledgehammers, yeah. That's why I like the elliptical, no impact gives your doggies a little break. Nothing saves you from the landing from that first jump squat, though.

I understand brother, but when it's affecting my work I could get fucking FIRED before that 3-5 month period. It's seriously affecting my performance that much.

If youre doing physical labor at your job then you probably dont need to go to the gym to workout for two hours. Im pretty fit and I workout 45 minutes to an hour. Just make sure you maximize the time youre in the gym, dont dick around and look at your phone.

Also Ive found that meditating for 15 minutes after my workout but before I start my workday(usually in my car) helps me refresh before I go in.
