there definitely are people who act like they care to look good, but their actions tend to betray them (I think most mainstream dem politicians are like that).

Its not as clear cut a "dems good, GOP bad"as CE likes to think. Trump is a low standard yes but being better than him does not inherently make you good.

There are different ideas and approaches to the same problems and far as politicians go a lot of them don't care on both sides or care more about money and ambition.

I feel like Trumpism has poisoned the GOP, and tribalism has poisoned American politics in general. Trump GOP is prolly worse but the dems need a great leader not just "Hey its not trump" or Tribalism, Arrogance, and infighting could give Trump a serious shot at winning a second term.

-Empathy tempered by pragmatism.
-Articulate and educated but still speaks in a way that is not overly difficulty to parse and is careful without being cowardly or dishonest.
-Has a clear but vision for the future and does not make obvious overpromises(like curing cancer, or rapid rollout of multiple gigantic welfare/healthcare programs)
-Does not overuse mudslinging or be prone to stupid alienating comments(Romney's 49%, Hiliary's basket of deplorables...and every other Trump Tweet)
-Actually has a decent understanding of the internet.
-Obvious shit like reasonable knowledge of geography, history, current events etc.
Etc.

Your average person cares or wants to care...but ignorance, fear, propaganda, and their own problems make action difficult and ineffectual governance simply adds to the problem. If someone can't even get themselves out of the pit they are in trapped in why should they worry about someone else?
