I started Weight Watchers yesterday. They've got a thing at work, and I joined.

It's kind of hard to make eating decisions. They have this point system, you get a daily allowance and a second weekly buffer. Everything you eat has a point value, and the goal is to not go over your allowance plus your buffer.

Some things are obviously worth a ton of points, so unless they're the only thing you eat that day or you're desperate then you don't eat them. Other things are less obvious (Glucerna shakes cost a bit), and if you've got a dish you don't know the name of then you've got to guess at what the components are and hope you're close (and that can add up fast).

But you do get some free foods. Eggs, for example. Scrambled eggs with a non-stick spray don't cost you anything, and I've had to resort to them for the last couple of days.

Any of you ever use Weight Watchers?

I started gaining weight when I started working full time, years back. Started counting calories to lose the weight, and I've kept counting calories ever since. I always aim for 1500, and absolute max 1900.

As a person who loves eating (basically the only thing I enjoy), I can't imagine not counting calories anymore. It's the only way I know when to back off.

I didn't know anything about weight watchers but sounds like it's pretty much like counting calories, yup, milkshakes are absurdly high, eggs are absurdly low.

I recommend mints, when you need something to put in your mouth but aren't allowed to eat food.

I also recommend taco bell. You can get like 3 to 4 awesome low-calorie items and it feels like a meal with a lot of variety and meat, but still low calories.

Ooh also, steak. Steak is absurdly low calorie and it makes no sense because it's so dense and good.

But maybe weight watchers takes more into consideration than calories...not sure why they would though.
