Showed marked down from 90. Anyone had this before? I've heard good things about the distillery but I've never had anything from them.
Was going to pick up a bottle of Dewar's 12 year, then the cashier was like we have some whisky on clearance, you should check it out. So I figured I'd give it a shot. --- Show me a man who resorts to violence and I'll show you a man who's run out of good ideas Phil Funnie ... Copied to Clipboard!

Yeah there were only 2 bottles left. If I knew I'd like the stuff I'd have bought both.

Lagavulin is less peaty compared to Laphroaig, but it's very much an Islay

Lagavulin 16 is wonderful. Islay is my preferred Scotch region, but thanks to my budget I usually go for Finlaggan (a bastard malt from Trader Joe's that I suspect is a young Caol Ila) and Laphroaig 10.
If I'm feeling like I have some money, I'll go for Ardbeg 10, Lagavulin 16 or Bruichladdich Port Charlotte. --- ~Drewnami~ A beacon of Light from a burning screen. ... Copied to Clipboard!

I have a reputation at my Total Wine for cleaning out clearance racks. I've found everything from Stranahan's to Copper Fox for under $30. So here we go. Gonna kinda type as I go through trying it.
Mouthfeel is amazing. Probably my favorite of any whisky I've ever tried. Leaves a nice tingle on the tongue for a bit. Taste is pretty strong on smoke. Also spicy. Maybe a little bit of like a medicinal taste, not sure, and not necessarily in a bad way. Kind of almost a hint of butter in the aftertaste. This is some interesting stuff. Added just a teensy amount of water now. See how that helps bring out some different character. Smoke seems a little lessened and that spiciness a little more strong. In the background there is still that hint of butter, but that isn't quite the right word. But it is the closest I can think of. Most interesting. I wouldn't go so far as to say I love it or anything, but definitely interesting. --- Show me a man who resorts to violence and I'll show you a man who's run out of good ideas Phil Funnie ... Lagavulin is my favourite mainstream whisky. Its lovely. The 8 and 12 year old they do is even better too, though it costs a bit more because they are smaller batches.
SoundNetwork posted... usa price: https://www.totalwine.com/spirits/scotch/single-malt/laphroaig-10-yr/p/3697750 Laphroig 10 rep here in the U.K. is 35, dunno what that site youve found is all about. I also dont think Ive ever paid more than 25 for it, as its constantly on offer in the super markets here. Its my go to cheap Islay. --- Xbox live - spaghettyhoop Nintendo ID - Spaghettyhoop ...
