I like both. Text can be easier to find, but video can be easier to identify.

And I hate having to listen to some nasally voice dingus try to explain something at the speed of a paraplegic snail when I could just read it in seconds.

When i need a guide i prefer a text-based one, Although sometimes i can see the appeal of the video guides,

I was at half price books this afternoon and they had the infamous guides for FFVII and FFVIII. VII with errors and typos and IX with no longer available playonline codes. They wanted 20 each.

For some people they learn better by watching rather than reading. But I agree with the "not being able to Ctrl+F what you want" thing. It's something I'm trying to work on with my videos.

Vids are only better when text can't accurately describe something and you need a visual. With most video guides you have to sift through all the shit. Losers with their "Wuuuuuuuuts up guys blahh blah blah" crap, overly long and unnecessary intros, beating around the bush for several minutes just so they can make the video long enough to put ads in it, etc.

It depends if you need a something like entry conditions to an obscure side quest or something like solving a puzzle that has you stumped. Both have their strong points.

I prefer text guides since I'm an old fuddy duddy but it's hard to compete against simply recording your game and editing it compared to describing shit.

I'm a text guide purist but once in a while if I get stuck I'll go to a video guide to see what exactly the fuck I'm doing wrong. But that might happen just once or twice throughout the entirety of a game. In general, I loathe video guides.

He's one of the good ones. One of the only instances where I go for the video guide if I can't be bothered figuring out a challenge or elusive target.

He's not that different, but his guides are so great that they make up for the typical crap you hear in his guides. He usually puts all the shilling stuff at the end anyway.

Depends on the thing. Something that doesn't need an explanation, just like, "fast travel to solitude, head out the main gate, to your left find this patch of grass, crouch and you'll find a khajit caravan chest* is great for a 2 minute video. How to beat an annoying area that has some time based puzzle and a boss fought at the same time, that could use annotated sections linking to a forum post while they explain how to do it in real time.
