I'm playing Jack and she's choosing Nisha. Anything we should know about? My only experience with the series is probably 6 hours of the first game.

Chose the oz kit that refills health on o2 pick up, use it the rest of the game.

If you never played BL2 you should be playing that. It's a better game, they just released free dlc for it, and it's better.

You can play through the game normally but when it's time to start really grinding levels, that big snow man from marcus mercenary dlc is great to farm. Also the brand new dlc has a great farming boss too. But since it's your first play through just play through the story at your own pace. It's long but fun as fuck.

My gf is pretty good at games. We usually play decently hard games like Cuphead.

Thanks for the tips! I'll look into the characters. She also prefers to play as female characters so I'm sure thatll be a determining factor for her.

I picked Zero and she picked Maya (or the siren, I think that's her name). Just got to the Sanctuary area but not inside yet. Dunno how I should build my character tbh.

Game is fun so far but some of these enemy spawn points are straight up bullshit.

Zero basically has 2 builds, either sniper or melee. Both of them use the middle (cunning) tree, so that might be where you want to start if you're not sure. Melee is harder and more gear dependent than sniping though, for obvious reasons. I had a two Zero's, one melee and one sniper, the sniper was max level (72 at the time) and his tree was this:

Keep in mind that you're going to beat the game around the high 20's, maybe 30, which is just enough to get the final skill in 1 tree (not enough points to fill the entire tree, so pick specific skills at each tier). After you beat normal mode, you can play the game over with exactly the same skills/gear in "true vault hunter mode". The enemies are harder, loot is better, and you get more skill points (ending around level 50, just a few shy of getting the capstone on the second tree). Then you can do the game a third time in "ultimate vault hunter mode" and again, enemies are harder, better loot, more skills.

So it depends on if you plan to go all the way to ultimate vault hunter mode. If your going to stop after normal mode, then you don't have to think of the long term planning of sniper vs melee, you even have a 3rd option of just action skill (middle tree, usually just compliments sniper/melee). So think of it as normal mode is 1 tree, TVHM is almost 2 trees, and UVHM is 2 trees plus some extra points to scatter around, fill in some gaps in the 2 main trees or take some useful stuff in the 3rd. I also would not recommend to slowly move up multiple trees. The capstone skills are actual game changers, some characters trees seem bad until you grab that last skill, then they're amazing, like Krieg's Release The Beast. You should be bee lining to them and staying in 1 tree at a time.

Have her go down the cataclysm tree with Maya. It's great for damage and contains most of her best skills.

Its unpopular opinion. But tps was my favorite. Characters are a large role in how I rank borderland games though and honestly I wanted to play everydamn body. 2 I was initially only interested in the dlc characters. Eventually Learned to like axton or whatever the fuck his name was. The guy with the turret gun and zero. Never once could get into maya and the gunzerker dude though and I tried.

you'll beat the game around lvl 30ish, depends how many side quests you do. then you do it again with stronger/more enemies and better loot up till about lvl 50. then there's a 3rd mode and with dlc you can get to like lvl 90 now or something
