captpackrat 06/15/19 11:33:01 AM #1:	Who do you think is responsible for the attacks on tankers in the Gulf of Oman? - Results (7 votes) Iran 42.86% (3 votes) 3 Saudi Arabia 28.57% (2 votes) 2 Israel 14.29% (1 vote) 1 Russia 0% (0 votes) 0 United States 14.29% (1 vote) 1 A terrorist organization 0% (0 votes) 0 Some other country 0% (0 votes) 0 Six ships have been attacked in the Gulf of Oman, including 2 Saudi oil tankers, 2 Norwegian tankers, an Emirati bunkering ship, and a Japanese tanker. None of the ships were sunk. The US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo claims the attacks were carried out by Iranian patrol boats attaching limpet mines to the ships, but crew members of one of the ships claimed they were hit by artillery shells and bullets. Iran denies any involvement in the attacks. Iran attacking the ships doesn't make any sense. Why would they do it? What could they possibly gain? They know that war with the US would be a losing proposition. The Saudis have been engaged in a proxy war with Iran since the 1970s. It would benefit them greatly to see the US start a war with Iran. Israel has been stirring up trouble in the Middle East since the beginning of the 20th century. They attacked a US ship in 1967, destroyed Iraq's sole nuclear power plant in 1981, invaded Lebanon in 1983 and has recently attacked Iranian targets in Syria. Russia would also benefit from a war between the US and Iran. Iran is a major buyer of Russian weapons and Russia is a major producer of oil. War with anybody would help Donald Trump distract the American people from his many, many scandals, and Iran would make the perfect scapegoat.
