I still use it, but pretty infrequently.

The one that saddened me was CCleaner going the way of bloatware that now can't be shut off and runs in the background unless you straight up install it.

You can turn off ccleaner smart cleaning under options. Also turn off update messages.

You can just set CCleaner not to do that.


Did they change it, or something? Last time I downloaded a new version, they'd removed the option to disable it in the background. When I did a google search on the issue, a bunch of tech forums confirmed that "yes this is a new permanent feature of CCleaner"... so now I just stick with an older version that works fine.

When I bought a computer last year it came with a free year of Malwarebytes, and it served me very well. That year expired a few weeks ago and I went and purchased Kaspersky as I've heard it's quite good.
