Every game I see introduced feels like the same stuff.

No. But I try and play a variety of games.

I stopped playing Ubisoft style open world games for a few years and now I like them.

Right now I'm playing Outer Wilds and I've never played anything like it before.

I definitely think most games have gotten stale for me. There are a few games I'm gonna play any way like Madden, but... Yeah, I'm just not interested in playing most games myself any more. I'm mostly interested in the story of some games, but don't feel like actually playing them. So, I'll typically just watch a playthrough on Youtube or Twitch.

Not stale so much as my standards just keep getting higher, so less appeals to me.

Nope - gaming seems like one of the few industries that's actually improving and trying new ideas while everything else is going to the shitter (movies, tennis, game of thrones etc)

I get hyped for a game once in awhile. But a lot of the time after the first day of playing it, I kind of find myself having to force it a little.

That's why Im taking a hiatus this summer and having my cheat days be whenever I chill with my gaming cousin.

I did that too, but my thing now is like if I play the genre once, I'm going to feel like it's the same thing. I don't know why I got that feeling. Like if I play any open world RPG now, I feel like it's just a crappy Witcher 3, and it's like that with almost any game these days. It's like I played enough games where nothing is really new, or does it better than a previous game I've played.

Yeah. Like I'm watching the FF7 remake stuff, and when they started talking about the gameplay, I just started groaning. It's like stuff I don't even want to do. I'm more interested in how everything is going to be portrayed. Like I may get more enjoyment just watching the game than playing.

I try to keep my game library diverse. Look at my Now Playing, those are three very different titles. I'm also playing ME3 multiplayer, and I'll be playing the story after I finish Yakuza. After I'm done with the games I'm playing, I'm gonna play Persona 5.

You've got to shake your library up. I get bored with games that feel similar, even if they're mechanically diverse - sometimes you want to listen to music as you play a game, so you play something that's low on plot. Sometimes you want to play something that's super engaging and story-heavy. But to avoid burnout, it might be a good idea to balance a few goofy fun games with a big story epic, and to diversify the genres you're playing.

I think this is huge. I'm watching gameplay breakdowns, and I'm like why the fuck would I want to do this. The gameplay sounds so dreadful.
