A local theater was showing it, and I hadn't seen it since childhood, so I thought I'd take a trip down nostalgia lane. It was awesome.

This year, they showed the sequel. I decided to be a bit more mature... and claim in advance that I had an appointment scheduled for today. It's not as good as the first movie, but it's still a lot of fun. It tried to capture the spirit of the cartoon show while following in the footsteps of the comic-driven first film. In that regard, it didn't a pretty good job.

Next year, if they show the third movie... I will be at work.

There. is. no. third. movie.

Seriously though how did they manage to fuck it up? The first two are so GOOD!

Yes, that is much more mature. ;)

For next year, are you just gonna make a wise move and skip TMNT3 entirely for obvious reasons?

I'm curious what the story is behind that film's production. It feels like the had a script for a movie about teenagers going back in time and just added the Ninja Turtles after acquiring the license. I've never heard anything to that effect, but I just can't imagine that a writer sat down and said, "What do we do with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Ah, I know! Send 'em back to Feudal Japan."

I dunno, I didn't hate 3, it just fell way short of 1 and 2.

I was surprisingly naive about that movie as a kid.

Even after I saw it in the theater, I gave it a second chance on home video under the presumption that I'd been too distracted by the absence of Shredder to enjoy what was there. A second viewing on home video didn't help much, but I still saw it a third time because it was the Ninja Turtles and I was a total junkie.

In hindsight, that movie probably cured my addiction because I think my interest sharply declined after that. I still liked them, but I wasn't excited about the Ninja Turtles like I had been before.

There is just so much better stuff they could have done with TMNT 3. Have the villain be Rat King. Have them go down to Florida and help the Frogs fight Leatherhead, and if they must go back to Feudal Japan have Usagi Yojimbo be there. There's just so many TMNT characters they haven't used yet.

I was obsessed with Ninja Turtles 3 when I was in kindergarten. It was actually my favorite lol.

It does have some pretty good moments and lines though.

I liked his episode in the cartoon show. "Not only is he from ancient Japan, but he's also from another universe. So, naturally, he speaks English."

I think simply replacing one of the two bad guys in that movie with an anthropomorphic dragon would've made me enjoy that movie. They probably would've defeated him in some anticlimactic manner, but it wouldn't have mattered. I'd have purchased the toy and the lunchbox.

That list though is something else. When people talk about characters with a good list of villains, names like Batman and James Bond often popup. Sometimes Spider-Man. Nobody ever mentions Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and they have enough memorable adversaries to keep a series going for six or more films.
