I mean, barring the stupid price point for it ($50 CAD wtf). All this time, I wanted a Seiken Densetsu 3 port. It needed to be done. Square ignored it for the longest time, so I believed we'd never get it. So, imagine my cautious optimism when I hear about the Collection of Mana trademark. Imagine my delight when I heard the rumoured leak. I was happy as shit to finally see that it was released in NA.

Then they immediately announce a full on remake of the game, slated for release next year. Why buy an old version of the game when you can get a new, different version of the game next year? Jesus, SE.

some people just prefer the originals

To be fair, the port is a collection of all 3, not just Trials of Mana.

I'd still like to play it. Even if a remake is really good, it's likely still really different from the original. Not in a good or bad way, just different, and nice to experience them both.

I've been debating between Link's Awakening original vs remake, myself, on a similar vein.

Because they're going to be different experiences. One is 2D and the other is full on 3d. Even if it's an action game, it's a 2d one

I hope they rebalance Riese. She's such a cool character but was shit at everything.

I also hope there's a story edit that will let you resolve everyone's plot points. While some of them do get resolved no matter what, there's some that don't. For example Heath is still MIA at the end of the game unless you played Carlie main

They are doing the same with Final Fantasy 7, the original is already available on all modern platforms.

Everything I've heard about the recent SoM remake indicates that they ruined what made it good while fixing none of its flaws. So in this case I don't trust a remake to deliver the 'proper' experience.

Not getting Secret of Mana 2 (as Nintendo Power labeled it back in the day) remains one of my biggest gaming disappointments. Buying the Mana Collection was the least hesitant I've ever been about overpaying for a product. I might have even shelled out 40 bucks for Trials alone. I'm dying to finally experience this game as it was originally released (or as close as possible to it).

i was watching videos of the remake and they added aerial combos and the ability to dodge roll neither of which are possible in the snes version
as well as making areas larger for more maneuverability
