I'm a massive Zelda fan, but was one of the few who were let down due by BotW due to the extreme deviance from the typical Zelda formula. Change is great and all, and BotW is certainly beautiful, but I'm stubborn and love the traditional Zelda game play, which is what made the series so great to begin with.

With what E3 just showcased, I wonder if there'll be a new pattern involving the direction and future of Zelda. Obviously BotW seems to be the direction the series is headed towards, but Nintendo never shies away from remakes and ports of past titles. Do you think - to appease the entire fanbase - Zelda will continue releasing new games in the future while simultaneously coinciding with remakes of old ones? The random remake of LA makes me think so. And tbh I wouldn't mind if that were true. I'll take remastered OoT/MM/TWW/TP versions any day, if we can't get new Zelda games that are more inline with those than BotW.

I think they'll remake a couple more games in the future, but I don't think they'll totally replace new traditional Zelda games. And we don't really know what BOTW means for the future of the series either. I do expect the big 3D games to continue to have an open world. But I can easily see them bringing back staples of the Zelda series too, like proper dungeons and items. Hell, it could even be this upcoming game.
