Skye Reynolds 06/04/19 10:28:14 PM #1:	Jax from Mortal Kombat? C.J. from Grand Theft Auto? Barrett from Final Fantasy 7? Lara Croft has always been an icon of video gaming. Samus Aran is a distant second as far as female icons go, but she could easily take the lead if she had a good movie to back her up. That got me thinking. Are there any black video game characters who could be considered iconic? Like, suppose there was a Smash Bros. / Injustice style game featuring a bunch of video game characters from different franchises. Is there any character who could function as the sole representative of his or her series? Or, at the very least, one of two characters representing a franchise? I think most everyone would be cool with C.J. acting as the sole rep for GTA, but what if Mortal Kombat were represented by Scorpion and Jax as opposed to Liu Kang getting the nod? And maybe that's not the best measurement of who is considered an icon because I certainly like Jax is more famous than C.J. despite being overshadowed by at least two or three other characters in the MK franchise. Adewale from Assassin's Creed Freedom Cry Bayek from Assassin's Creed Origins Keith David from Saints Row 4 TJ Combo from Killer Instinct The agent from Crackdown (at least in Crackdown 3) is canonically black, as far as I know EDIT: Forgot about Tyrael from Diablo 3, and Sergeant Johnson from Halo.
