This series has moments of greatness, followed by moments of bewildering stupidity.

They try to paint David as a villain, for what? Having normal human reactions? He wants to kill the douchebag who spent 30 years driving him insane? Sounds normal to me. Hes manipulated into torturing a friend to save his girlfriends life? So that makes him a monster? His girlfriend is manipulated by an evil monster to turn against her boyfriend, so David erases the memories of her being manipulated and suddenly hes evil?

Not to mention that hes being judged by a girlfriend who (in addition to raping a guy and setting him up on false pedo charges) spent all season manipulating David. And then out of nowhere is threatening to execute him.

David did nothing wrong. Any normal human being would have burned that place to the ground.

I'm of the opinion that erasing people's memories without permission, tampering with their minds, or psychically compelling a person to do something is every bit as immoral as physical rape.

It represents the complete and total loss of autonomy, self-control, and free will. Even if done with good intentions, you are taking control of the one thing that a person should always have control over. It isn't excusable.

So yes, Syd was manipulated by the Shadow King and given a false impression of David. But that was still her impression and under that impression she would never have consented to sleeping with him. That's rape. It was only made worse by the fact that he also violated her mind.

David got screwed. He got put in a terrible spot and his actions are understandable, but they were an unethical shortcut. Instead of trying to counter Shadow King's lies, he just erased them.

On the plus side, we finally got properly crazy, multiple personalities, ultra-powerful David.

Well then Charles Xavier is the biggest villain in their universe.

You aren't going to get an argument from me. I genuinely don't believe there are many, if any, ethical uses of telepathy. It's an affront to civil rights.
