If GoT had 10 seasons and they had the same level of writing in seasons 1-6 minus high sparrow and disgusting sand snakes, Littlefinger would've been the one sitting on an intact KL and iron throne cause he's just a fucking amazing character but then in season 7 they made him so fucking pathetic. I laugh my fucking ass off when they show him staring at something or someone and looking like he's about to do some smart, evil thing and they have the evil music playing in the background when nothing really happened. It was all just to trick the audience to make them think a certain way and to surprise them out of no where for the sake of surprising them like with Arya coming out of no where and killing NK. They also did that same shit like how they purposely didn't show all the surviving Dothraki and Unsullied in Winterfell battle because they want to make it seem like the north+Dany's army were losing. They ruined a great character. Fuck.

I'd say they fucked Jaime up more in s8. Little Finger really did seem like Dick Dastardly from Wacky Races in s7 tho lol

The entire Sansa/Arya S7 arc was really dumb and predictable.

I also find it astonishing LF wouldn't have pried more into Bran's powers like Tyrion eventually did.

Unironically too smart of a character for them to deal with and it showed.

They didn't know how to write Littlefinger, Tyrion or Varys when they ran out of source material.

I remember watching Not-Bran saying "Chaos is a ladder", and thinking "Whelp, time for Littlefinger to flee to The Vale, the gig is up."

And he stays.

Littlefinger is quite possibly the smartest and craftiest character on the show.

And he inexplicably stays in Winterfell. WHY?!?!?!?!?!?

That was when I knew for sure the writers didn't know how to do their job. I still had (some in vain) hope for the rest of the characters, but I should have realized it was over then and there. That's on me.

Funnily enough, they never really wrote Littlefinger correctly. Compared to his book version, he's terrible at his job.

The Varys/Littlefinger scenes were mostly good but aside from that, yeah

He was always way too obvious in the show while in the books everyone trusts him completely

Yes. Which sucks, cause I adore most of this show, even some of the iffy seasons filled with bad arcs and blatant fan service. Now, I can't even be bothered.

That awful 'power is power' scene in S2 is when the timeline split into Book-Littlefinger and Show-Littlefinger.

I think the writers misunderstood Littlefinger as a whole. I remember one of them saying in an interview (cant remember who it was) something to the extent of, obviously nobody trusts Littlefinger.

Except yes they do. Thats the point of his character. Hes trustworthy. Hes everyones friend. As long as its convenient for him. And if he does betray you he does it in a way that doesnt give him away to everyone else.

Everybody trusts Littlefinger.

Eh people exaggerate it. Littlefinger thought he had Sansa trusting him. His issue was he didn't know Arya so the persona he projected onto her didn't work at all to play the game. And then Bran had superpowers. Just an unlucky break.

And there's no way he'd be able to sit on the Iron Throne with Dany coming.

Yeah, which is why he should have fled immediately after his conversation with Not-Bran. Let the rest events play out and take advantage of the remains as he's always done. Dany never stayed in power after the massacre. So he could have wormed his way back in, given time and a well thought out strategy. But as many have said, no one knew how to write a well thought out strategy, or intelligent characters in general imo.
