As usual, I am so late to the party. There's so much stacking evidence that Lion King and Disney ripped off from them. And yeah I know, Disney always uses some old fairy tale folklore to use as a backdrop or inspiration but with Lion King, they heavily promoted it as "unique" and "original". It's their very own story they came up all on their own is what they're claiming.

The wiki goes into a lot more detail on what exactly they plagiarized. And naw, this isn't some simple "Lion King drew inspiration from Kimba" or even "Imitation is a form of flattery" bullshit either. They literally stole Kimba's plot, characters, designs and core movie. And every PoS person at Disney and person who worked on Lion King denied knowing what Kimba is and/or it's just a major coincident. I guess those shameless fucks will take that lie to the grave. And the people who made Kimba said they could do nothing because it was fucking Disney stealing their work. They would lose in any court battle especially financially.

I'm conflicted heavily. Like anyone else, I love Lion King and a ton of other Disney work and they hold a special place in my heart but this kind of news is devastating. I'm going to really wish Jon Favreau(director of Lion King remake) or someone comes out and show a bit of integrity, and admit and finally give the credit to Kimba it always deserved.

Yes but they were always able to admit that with most of their work. With Lion King, they literally tried to say it was an original idea. They hold this fucking stance to this fucking day.

The difference is that people torrenting and stealing shit knows they are stealing shit and sure, some might believe it is a righteous thing to do but what Disney is doing here is saying they never stole anything.
