And they are coming tonight.

My husband drove her and his brother to another town 3 hours away for his nephews graduation. They are driving back the same day. She asked me if she can bring back my husbands other nephew. Hes a good kid, quiet and keeps to himself, so I said yes. But said it would be better if my husband invited him himself. She agreed.

Well she ignored that and invited him AND his little brother. Then invited the other nephew who graduated. And I find out my husbands brother is also coming back with him to stay with us when I was initially told he was staying there. Theyre all staying until Monday.

My mother in law has also been a pain. She has been staying with us the last couple of days and she never respects the things we ask her to do. For example, our cats are not allowed in the guest bedroom she stays in. We asked her to be extremely careful in closing the door and not letting the cats in. Well she obviously hasn't and the cats have been going in. Worse even, she accidentally locked one of them in there for hours and he ended up peeing on the bed. He has never gone outside his box ever. Ive spent all day washing the sheets and down comforter (that shit takes forever to dry).

Whenever his family stays with us, it ultimately means something in our house will get destroyed because they dont respect our rules. And now I have a gaggle of them coming over. When this was supposed to be my one week off before starting a new job.

Why are in laws so awful?

Well idk but I can tell you what the old fashioned mexican thing is that I've seen.
If someone is going to be invited somewhere (doesn't matter where, to who's house, to what event, etc) then everyone is invited too. It's taken that everyone should expect this sort of rudeness.

A cousin or nephew is invited over. That actually means any siblings, any friends of theirs that are over, the mom of dad are invited too. Food is expected.

It's some bs asinine culture thing. It's mostly the older generations (over 50) that I've noticed still do this. Or just simply the uncultured ones.

I would leave the comforter off and when asked I'd say well if you didn't put the cat in like I asked then you'd have one tonight.

Well luckily my brother in law left last night and we had him take my mother in law with him. We kept the nephews.

My mother in law and I used to have a good relationship but I guess as shes getting older shes losing her mind or something. She made a lot of comments that crossed lines with me. She was also upset because she also invited my other brother in law too but my husband said we were at capacity (we were), and also told her she cant just invite people to our house. She pulled me aside to complain about it for like an hour yesterday (and make more inappropriate comments, trying to stir drama with my husband and I). So my husband had her go. I guess she was super sad about it and my husband feels crappy about it. But she should learn to control her mouth.

The nephews have just been playing smash brothers and being nice kids. So at least now theres some peace in the house.

This reminds me of a situation where the mother tries to reassert herself as the primary woman in her son's life. Does that track to this?

Also I forget. How long have you two been married?

Anyway, sorry you had to deal with that but I'm glad it's going okay for the most part.

That sucks. What kind of things does your mom do?

For the most part, we each got on fine with each others in laws. But after this recent visit, I feel like I never want to see his mother again.

Thanks Cyric. Weve been married for 5 years and together 8. It wasnt that she was inserting herself as the alpha woman, but I think her knowing Im infertile makes her wish my husband married someone else (specifically one of his exes).

She doesn't like you. Simple as that. But at least he stood up for you. My mother-in-law moved in unannounced, and has interfered with every breath I've taken since. My wife won't do anything about it.

Yup. She has never made comments about children before but my husband asked her not to discuss them with me. But she made comments several times anyway. Then made a comment about how Mexicans are so fertile and have so many kids, they dont understand those who cant. Then went on to talk about my husbands ex (who is Mexican and super religious) that Ive never heard about, and how she was sure they would get married, she was such a wonderful woman, goes to church all the time, blah blah blah. She said my husband must have never told me because it brings him pain (he says he didnt because she was never relevant). She showed me her Facebook and they are very close. This chick calls her her forever mom in law.

I guess she doesnt like me now that she knows I might not give her grandkids like her other sons (who have multiple kids with several baby mommas then abandon them). From what youve posted, youre going through much worse though. At least my husband had my back and it was only a few days. I couldnt imagine her living here permanently and not being able to do anything about it.
