No, put it back if you see it and you're able to physically do so. The "any human scent will make the mother bird abandon the nest" is just an overextension of an old wive's tale to just keep kids away from messing with bird eggs.

Happened to me once only the nest itself fell. There were two other babies and they died in the fall leaving only one. We tried to take it somewhere but nobody would accept it and we were told to put it back where I found it so the mother would see it. First night after a storm and it barely lived. Tried taking it back to the house in desperation so that maybe we could keep it awhile but the answer was still no by my dad. Next time I came by it was dead. I really wanted to save that thing but I simply wasnt allowed to and it really wouldnt have worked out
