Sending virtual hugs to the little guy. Having to put a pet down is one of the hardiest things. Even more so if you think of them as one of the family.

There are services where you can put the dog down at home surrounded by family instead of in a scary vet's office.

Heart murmurs are the worst, because they're such a random killer... I had two cats that had them and both had heart attacks at 9 years old. They were otherwise totally happy and healthy.
