Yeah it was just okay and had a very TNA/Late-Stage WCW vibe in some parts. They gotta cut that clown shit out.

Yup. I dont think Vince cares that much. Wait until they are running PPV once a month and their weekly viewership on TV is consistently better than WWE.

Takeovers are still better wrestling shows. It wasn't bad but it seemed at odds with itself in a way. They wanted to be serious but couldn't help doing some circus stuff that just felt cringe.

That's not a very high bar (if you exclude NXT). It wasn't better than NXT.

Also TNA and WCW were also a lot better than WWE at times that doesn't change anything. They gotta do better if they want to actually compete.

I highly doubt that TNA barely gets 10,000 viewers....maybe with Ambrose they get a bit more ratings but it will be hard for them to get 2.0 overall....

There was over 100,000 viewers on the Pre-Show, that's why it kept crashing

People will turn out for Week 1. Look how many people just on here who got the show just to try something new. Long time fans that haven't watched in a long time, all over the Internet turned into this show. For $50 for a single show

Vince McMahon doesn't take NXT seriously. It's not on TV and it only serves as a placeholder for wrestlers before they're brought to the main roster and horribly misused.

Of course he doesn't. He isn't running it. Triple H is and if it was on network TV, you'd bet your ass it would beat both Raw and Smackdown in ratings.

Vince probably gave Triple H the go ahead to run NXT thinking that he would fail for that "I told you so" moment to rub it in H's face that WWE couldn't be ran without Vince. Vince was proven wrong and when USA offered to air NXT weekly not to long ago, Vince refused.

The problem is, I'm not sure how they're going to do a weekly tv show with a limited roster, unless it's an hour. If they go two, good luck with that. They're going to oversaturate the shit out of everything within 6 months.

AEW doesn't have any problem in the money department, their backed by one of the wealthiest men in the US. They'll get the talent in no time. TNT will probably give them an hour slot for a while and see if they can stay afloat. If that can happen, then a two hour slot is a major possibility.

Every wrestling fan should be excited now. Who doesn't like a good ratings war?

Money isn't the issue. Money wasn't an issue for TNA either. Biggest problem I have with pro wrestling nowadays is the spamming of big moves every single time. Back then, seeing a 450 splash once in awhile for me was like, holy shit, that was incredible. Now it's, "Again? What, this guy does it too? And this guy as well?" Nowadays, it's more rarer to see a guy throw a solid punch, than a 360, 450, 720, razzo dazzo flip flop super splash. And they kick out of all of them.

Money was a very big issue in TNA. lol. Dixie Carter wasn't using her money. She was using her parents money, who ran Panda Energy. They knew the writing was on the wall for their daughters pet project so they cut financial ties to her daughter.

What also didnt help TNA was she was using that money just to run a show based on nostalgia. She was paying top dollar for old washed up wrestlers just to get peoples attention, and then doing nothing to capitalize on that attention. From the sounds of it AEW is going to try and avoid that trap.

No it wasn't. Dixie lost the financial support because she was using it on things that did nothing for the company, such as wasting a fortune to bring in Hogan, Bischoff, and their ilks. After awhile, ratings were dropping, wrestlers were leaving because of creative differences, questionable contracts, Dixie and Russo kept saying stupid shit that pissed off their tv executives, and that was the end. It wasn't that Carter was using her parents money, it was that Carter was using her parents money on stupid shit where they won't get anything back in return, and that ultimately ended that dumb broad.

The only people who are criticizing it were people who disliked the pre-show, and WWE fanboys. I haven't been following wrestling in 15+ years, but very recently I tried getting back into it. WWE has its merits but seems like it's in complete disarray at the moment.

AEW seems like an interesting clean slate that's professional, not tacky, and good enough to draw people back in. I loved the Cody/Dustin match, the Lucha Bros. were awesome and some of their lower-tier talent like Sonny Kiss seem promising.

I should have been more clear when I stated that they "seen the writing on the wall," By that, I meant her wasting money on the likes of Hogan, Bitchoff, Russo, all the failed WWE stars that still failed in TNA, getting rid of Jerrett the first time. Her failing to re-sign their largest star (who happened to be the heart and soul of TNA, AJ Styles) Leading up to her parents not seeing a return on their investments.

Not to mention that the money issues and them signing locker room tumors to huge contracts, forcing Samoa Joe and Bobby Rude to leave. (Well, Rude just let his contract run out, but it caused him to not re-sign.)

Sorry if I wasn't clear here.

Because, unlike Carter, he has two successful sports teams and a actual wrestling fan. Using his spare play money and hiring the actual talent to drive the ship instead on relying on people who don't know the business to tell you what you need to do. (see Dixie Carter and WCW for examples) I seriously doubt they will throw money around like WCW and Carter did. They aren't going to throw millions of dollars to the likes of a Hogan for a two month ratings hike.
