beta bucks
alpha fucks

the dude is not going down with raising another man's child

poor kid, though, his/her life is fucked for this, just because the mommy loved being fucked by many dudes

the moment you raise a kid for X number of years, blood relations cease to matter. you've long since committed to that. society doesn't work if men just decide "oh, i don't have any responsibilities here. it's not mine!" as if the work you put in can just be erased/forgotten

this is how you get fatherless homes/crimes/etc. If the woman was bad enough to cheat, you're still worse for not being a real man and committing to what you started. I'm not arguing he should stay married (she should be dumped to the curb) but the child you've raised is more important than anything in your life at that point. He obviously never loved his child and has no sense of social responsibility.

"alpha/beta" is irrelevant here because the real world doesn't function around a dichotomy, especially not long after the point where you've had a child

hopefully the courts force him to take responsibility. This is one aspect of society I tend to be fairly conservative on - if it was a baby that was recently born I could see his point of view, but by now, the child knows him as his dad. It's much too late to cut him off. The child matters more than his desire to be "free" of parental responsibility

How many children have you adopted?

Assuming the story is real then its his choice, but it seems like he already made his mind up. The kid can blame his mom and real dad.

he raised the child for 5 years

it's his responsibility

lol

No, not really.

Not when he was raising it under false pretences.

It was the mother's choice to have a child from another man, it's her responsibility.

Just for me, and I don't even have or want kids, but it seems like you would have developed a relationship and a connection by then that wouldn't be so easily dismissed. I might feel differently actually experiencing it, though.

irrelevant, this is about a person who raised someone for five years

you're in the game at that point. choosing not to have or adopt is entirely different from having and then abandoning. it makes you a sociopath to abandon after that period of time

of course, as has been stated, this is largely hypothetical since this story is a repurposed story if reddit sleuths are to be believed, but it's still a hypothetical

It's a bit of a trap hypothetical, just cause I doubt any of the people not on the side of the child want or are prepared for kids. They're speaking from a perspective of someone in a role they shouldn't be in.

But it's super insecure and asswipey to put yourself before a toddler that you raised. There's no context where that's not asswipe material.

The reality is, if this guy was the sort of affectionate father who truly loved this kid then he wouldn't be asking this question. Clearly he doesn't have much of a bond with the kid and if so, why would you even want him to stay? If he didn't gain that close of a bond with his kid before this incident, he's definitely not going to get closer to the child after it. In terms of him being asshole? Yeah. A bit. Though I think it's absurd to say he's worse then the wife or to imply he has some sort of duty to throw away his future to raise a child that isn't his own.

the good news is that the story is probably fake and most of CE won't be having kids, so the bizarre support for child abandonment won't come into play

This happens all the time sadly

Its not the mans job to cover up for the mothers ill deeds thats 100% on her

Guy should be able to leave. Wife should get no alimony. The guy who is the actual father should have to pay child support. This type of behavior shouldn't be encouraged. The wife is completely at fault, she should have to bear the guilt and repercussions. (fuck that kid too)

And it's the wife's fault she ruined her kid's life by lying to the guy and her kid about who the kid's dad is.

I'd say if you've raised the kid that long, it's your kid regardless of blood, but I could understand a massive shock like that could possibly just cause a large mental disconnect. If he truly no longer has any affection for the child, cutting off ties seems like the best. If he's simply cutting off ties because of the idea that he can't have a parent and child relationship with someone not blood related, I'd say he's a pure asshole.

Not the asshole the slightest bit, and probably weird about leaving the kid but I'd do the same thing. No way could I be around a kid that I thought was mine and wound up being some random dudes kid. It would fuckin hurt but I don't blame the dude one bit and he's definitely not the asshole.
