Look, I hate the "play empowering music while women are fighting" trope too. It's not that bad. We haven't had a live action female superhero series since Wonder Woman back in the 70s. It's about time.

I don't get it. I think it looks good. I watch every Arrowverse show, and I've been hyped for her ever since she appeared in an episode during the Elseworlds crossover last fall. the show looks good. and the actress is cool. what is everyone's problem?

Most people's problems stem from the show very obviously being agenda-driven identity politics nonsense on top of it just looking cheap.

the show will succeed. the vast majority of the people hating on it, aren't people who watch the Arrowverse so they weren't the target audience. this is like men whining about those 50 Shades movies

Mostly the concept, I guess.

We get a live action series with a female hero (and one who is LGBT). We get a bat series with someone other than Batman himself. We get a weekly live action Batman-esque show that isn't campy or holding back to save the better ideas for the movies.

I don't expect it to be great, but I don't imagine they'll be shoving pro-feminist one-liners down people's throats in every scene.

I just realized I'd completely forgotten that Supergirl existed. Yeah, here I was thinking Batwoman was the first show since Wonder Woman.

Anyway, I really doubt if Batwoman is going to be nonstop political messages. They'll be there for certain. But I imagine there will be more to the show than just paying lip service to current social trends.

It's a female Batman. They're gonna put some effort into that.

I dont know a lot about her but the version of her ive seen used guns. I hope she does too. She was supposed to be part of this thing where the military wanted a army of people just as capable in combat as batman iirc.

But yeah after a few particular episodes of black lightning I thought the show was gonne be a constant racism is bad message. Its there but not as shoved in your face as I thought.

Titans? on the DC Universe streaming service? no. it's getting a second season

this isn't on that. this is on the CW, on tv

also Titans is not part of the Arrowverse

Titans is its own thing I believe. That has a season 2 coming up. Not sure if they're setting up some other DC universe with that one.

People said Supergirl was garbage when it was new but honestly the first season wasnt significantly worse that Arrow or Flash season 1. A little more campy but not nearly as bad as people made it out to be.

Im skeptical of negative opinions to new Arrowverse shows because of this >_>

It took a while to find its footing but the last season of Supergirl was really great.

Typically it does take a bit for the these shows to find their footing. Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow didn't really kick off until season 2. The Flash is the only one that had a great first season but it also never managed to reach those highs again since.

I definitely dont mind lesbian characters but cw goes a bit heavy on it. A lot of their major shows have at least one lesbian or bi girl.

Batwoman is fine though was already an esablished lesbian character iirc.

Is the Terminator a superhero? Is Tarzan a superhero? Are Greek mythological heroes superheroes? No. You need a superhero costume to be a superhero in the same way that a soldier needs a uniform to be a soldier. That, or undergo some kind of Hulk like transformation.

No costume. No superhero.

Idk I think having super powers and existimg in the same universe as others counts. Luke cage for example. Hes even in a marvel game I have.
