Brexit, and more to the point, the Brexit process, have pretty much destroyed her career. I don't agree with many of his political views, but I feel bad for her. Almost anyone would've been crushed by this. Her successor still might.

I did a search for Theresa May and there is no news on her leaving in the next month or so.

@Sunhawk are you able to provide your sources?

Thanks.

Pretty much any major British website. Her date hasn't been set in stone, but she's almost certainly going in a month. The only thing left before then, is to present her latest Brexit proposal. She must be pretty bored of all this by now.

I googled and checked about four different major media outlets and couldnt see anything explicitly stating she was leaving in a month. Or even anything to say she was leaving soon.

Can you post a link please?

The only news was this:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-48290760

Basically, she's agreed to "set a timetable" for her departure after the next Brexit vote in the first week of June.

So yeah, who knows what that timetable could be? Knowing her she'll hold on a bit longer.

Actually, the Scottish government has already made it clear that they intend to have another referendum to leave the UK, after/if the UK officially leaves the EU. This makes sense, considering the circumstances since the last Scottish referendum will have changed enough to justify another one.

LOL

No they haven't.

What an insult to democracy.

"We lost the vote fair and square so lt's just do it over and over and over and over and over and over and ove and over until we win."

If Scotland had voted to Leave the UK and then another referendum was called for because of Brexit, there would be riots in the streets. People would literally die.

Look at Qubec.

Referendum in 1980, referendum in 1995. Talk of referendum now.

That's how it 's done. Every generation, not every couple of years.

The talking points of European politics now are near identical to the talking points of the once in a generation ironclad referendum from a couple of years ago.

I would say that theres more argument for a second Scottish referendum than a second Eu referendum.

Er, wasn't this Scottish Independence referendum held in 2014 and the Brexit vote held in 2016? How can you *not* say that these are two completely different circumstances then?

Perhaps the Scottish population was content being a part of the UK if they could retain privileges or relations with the EU. Now that they are going to lose that they may see it more necessary to gain independence to remain part of the EU...

I would say that theres more argument for a second Scottish referendum than a second Eu referendum.

Then you don't know what either of those things mean.

Scottish Referendum was a simple issue.

Brexit Referendum had zero details on how Brexit should be arranged.

Questions like "Do you want May's Deal or No Deal?" were not answered by the EU referendum making it by default more valid to call for a second than the Scottish one.

Questions like "Do you think Scotland should be independant?" were answered already. Scotland said no.

However there is no need for either.

Because that's not enough to justify a second once in a lifetime referendum.

In 3 years time things will be different again, tax laws may change.

Hell what if Remain in the UK wins AGAIN and then 3 years later There's tarrifs with China that hurt Scotland's economy so now some people want to leave? Should we have a 3rd referendum?

Or let's say Scotland votes indepedance, then the US goes to war with Iran, the UK refuses to join in but Scotland does, now some people want back in the UK? Should we have a 3rd referendum?

Not that we have to worry about the latter becasue if Scotland voted to leave and then another referendum was called, as I said there would be riots, death and violence.

Things haven't changed. IT's the same politicians (give or take a couple) talking to the same voters about the same issues. Calling another referendum is spitting the face of democracy and trying to cheat the system to screw your side into victory

IT's a disgusting and dirty precedent.

The landscape of politics will be different in 15,20,30 years Not 4 or 5. If people still want a referendum in 2030 that's around the time to call for one.

NOT just call for one all the time until you win because "Something somewhee has changed!" something has changed every day. The fundamentals remain the same.

This entire suggestion seems to pure thrive of the fact the people calling for the end of democracy know that the pro remain camp are not violent or dangerous while some people in the pro indepedance camp are.

Yeah I don't get it. They voted to leave. So leave.
It's that saying, shit or get off the pot.

They keep pushing it back. Just leave. All the talk about it being overcomplicated is what seems to be making it overcomplicated. Set a date. Leave. Figure it out the starting the next day. Not going to know for sure what happens until then anyway so stop screwing around and do what you said you were going to do months ago.

That's one of the dumbest takes I've heard.

It's like saying "Talking about it being complicated to go to the moon seems to be the only thing making it complicated."

You don't seem to understand cause and effect. People are talking so much because there are so many issues.

Set a date. Leave.

That's what they tried to do. The country was so split on May's deal that they had to delay it

Figure it out the starting the next day.

That doesn't make sense.

Take Northern Ireland for instance. That boarders on Ireland and has centuries of violtile violent history. Right now they are both part of the EU.

What happens to the boarder if the UK leaves the EU? Now trade, transport is no longer free. Families are cut off. A hard boarder will be needed that nobody in either nation wants and will lead to violence.

There's already been an esclation of violence there as we speak.

What happens with the customs union? How do items get transported? What about products or businsesses that have parts in countries all over Europe including the UK, how is that effected?

How about Ex pats? People from the UK who live in France? Students from France who came to the UK to study.

How do airports work? What are the laws on travel and passage?

How do taxes work?

Who does the water belong to?

How does immigration work?

You can't go "Leave the EU and sort if out tomorrow." that literally is incoherant and implies that you literally do not understand what you're talking about.

This isn't a clubhouse, it's a complicated system of laws, agreements, regulation and control that's been in place for decades.

Not going to know for sure what happens until then anyway so stop screwing around and do what you said you were going to do months ago.

"We're not going to know for sure what happens if we leap out of this plane so let's do it now we're a mile in the air rather than atfter we land at the airport"

You seem to think being angry and making short sharp statements is the same thing as having a plan, The Donald Trump effect... IT's not

May is garbage and should've resigned a long time ago. Even controlling for the fact that Brexit was going to be a train wreck at best, she showed a total lack of awareness, political acumen, or ability to negotiate with, well, anyone. She actively worsened the situation, and survived as long as she did only because her enemies could not agree on the means to remove her sooner.
