I will mention, I am a Star Wars fan, not a Thrones fan. I haven't even watched the show. I just follow Star Wars news closely and all my rl and online friends watch Thrones.
The directors rushed the final season so they could jump into production of their SW trilogy. This is likely because Disney has been in a panic mode for a year and a half over this franchise, and probably offered the two a huge paycheck to do it and do good. I am sure they did not want to do a bad job on their show, and probably tried to get more time from Disney to finish GoT. But after Disney cancelled the Boba Fett and Obi-Wan spinoffs (which we wanted) the timetable changed, and from a financial perspective Disney probably considered it impossible and gave then a take it or leave it offer. That must have happened if they had originally intended on doing right by GoT fans. Which is to say, corporatism has not only hurt our beloved franchise, but another fanbase's as well. They suffer for Disney's sins. I don't even watch GoT, I just follow news and know Star Wars. all my friends watch GoT and are very dissapointed, and it is the shortest season on top of that. If they truly our great storytellers, then they must have consciously made this mistake, choosing to not dedicate the proper time in order to get that Disney cash. IE, Disney probably strong armed them if they had really wanted to do more with GoT. Apparently HBO wanted more, it was the two directors who opted out for the SW trilogy. To Game of Thrones watchers: It is not my show, so it doesn't affect me. But I know disappointment from my series, Star Wars, so I am sorry that disappointment has reached out to your series and ensnared it. You didn't deserve that and I know your pain. A story is like a building. You can tell what a building will look like just from its foundation. It has a direction and a purpose for the future. It is a sad thing for a building to not live up to its foundation. ... Copied to Clipboard!
