GWB wasnt up for re-election in 2008. That's not the point. The candidates that were running rejected his endorsements, they were able to do so freely because it earned them centrist voters that hated Bush. Im saying the point is irrelevant because the circumstances are different. Republicans didnt run as anti-Bush in 2004. He had strong popularity in 2004 due to his running on "do you want to change presidents in the middle of a war" campaign and people were still pretty salty over how sore of a loser Gore was. Trump has none of those advantages. Hillary didn't ask for a recount and Trump asked to investigate voter fraud for an election he won because he can't handle not winning the popular vote either. His foreign war policy has been a complete Trainwreck. He has more to gain than he has to lose by doing this. If his district is solid red then it is likely he will get re-elected anyway because the people there would still rather vote a republican who hates trump than a democrat. Look at Mnuchin's seat, for example. Despite many's calls to the democrats to vote him out, they still voted him back in anyway.
