I remember being little and seeing my brother get swimming lessons. They wouldn't let me in the water because I was too small I guess, had to play poolside with toys instead. When I was older I asked if I could get swimming lessons, my mom said we couldn't afford it then and my dad said he'd tie me into a burlap sack with rocks and throw me off a bridge into the river. Then he loaded me up and took me to the river, stopped and the bridge and acted like he was gonna toss me over. Instead he pulled on up to another part where we could swim and he took me to the deep end and held me under. He said he was just holding onto me, but no, he held me under. I managed to flail about enough that pulled me up and took me back to shore. After that, every time I mentioned wanting to learn to swim he'd get angry and say he'd teach me.
