If anything Heartgold and Soulsilver were remakes done right. Higher levels, improved AI, redone overworld. If all of the remakes were all that level things would be great:D

I guess technically the Johto games could be considered a ''Hard'' version because of their ridiculous level curve. You're basically guaranteed to be severely underleveled for the rest of the game starting right after the Ghost gym. Morty was it?

Unless you like only use 2 Pokemon or grind.

I love Johto, but those games had an absolutely awful level balance.

Yeah, Johto's difficulty comes from not from better opponents with better strategies or anything but the fact that you are constantly super-underleveled.
