I'm always reading stories about how something went wrong with a customer service experience and the buyer lost money and just says "guess I'm screwed" and just moves on when he or she could have escalated to corporate or agencies like the BBB or the state AG and in more egregious cases, AAA arbitration or small claims?

Edit: Wrang=wrong. Fuck. Why can't we still edit topic titles in 2019 like every other site has since 2004?

Never needed to.

That said, some battles just aren't worth the effort of taking. Even small claims would probably require a fair amount of time and effort.

I'm not sure how much time, but I'm sure more than just posting on social media "Fuck these guys".

The BBB gives the business a chance to defend themselves, which is fair in theory but IME just results in petty countercomplaints, and the whole thing devolves into a shitshow that's hard for anyone to take seriously.

I just stop patronizing the business and move on.

I always fight back. It's not very hard and you almost always get what you're looking for as long as it's legitimate. One time Verizon tried to screw a bunch of us over on a deal site on a legitimate promotion in the tune of about $5k-$6k. We tried everything and went up the ladder. Denied. Denied. Denied. We basically owed them money.

So one of the dudes was an actual lawyer and he got us all to start the arbitration process. It costs Verizon about $4500 to go through that. Once they got the snail mail letter, they zeroed out everything and acted like someone had fucked up at Verizon.
