No. This substantial pay increase and guaranteed rate of pay is only because its rigged by the American Medical Association to keep paying them this much and to restrict the number of doctors to ensure the rate of pay stays the same. This is also why it costs so goddamn much in the USA to get any medical work done on a person and why their copay is astronomical compared to that of other countries.

If the AMA wasnt lobbying to keep this status quo in place, healthcare would be cheaper and the decreased level of pay would result in lower debts and tuition costs.

Gotta keep that wheel of money flowing.

Well, in Japan, the pay for becoming a doctor isnt that much higher than other professions. You only have to go to school for six years though (no such thing really as grad school in japan), instead of the I think 8+ years plus residency that Americans have to do.

Do you have any citation whatsoever for that claim?

Also some people do genuinely like to help others. It's not about money. It's the same reason people teach. They get paid dogshit.
