This video is interesting but WAY too long because Nick Robinson likes milking his runtime as much as possible for maximum YouTube buck$. I summed up the video here so you don't have to watch him stretch 3 minutes of content over 16 minutes:

in this game you gotta pay microtransactions to unlock the next mini game, but you "negotiate" with a shopkeeper to get the price of the game lower (it's real money). the negotiation system is baked into the game so you ALWAYS get the game cheaper. you get these key items to give the shopkeeper that make him like you more and change his life for the better, which furthers the "story" of the game.

if you DO NOT negotiate (which is hard to do, the game is built around making you get cheaper prices) and DO NOT give him the items to get the discounts and pay the FULL PRICE (again, real money), then after each purchase you get a cutscene with a character who gives the shopkeeper the item you didn't give him so that the "story" still progresses naturally

because nobody ever pays the full price for the minigames this character has remained "undiscovered" until now

I am so completely fascinated by this because it's one of the only ways a character even COULD be this obscure.

Doing a thing that the game doesn't want you to do just to see what will happen? EVERYONE tries that. Some people try it their first time through the game. These things never remain secrets for long.

Doing a thing that the game doesn't want you to do and then PAYING EXTRA MONEY AS A RESULT? Yeah that changes everything. Literally nobody is ever going to do that. Rusty's Real Deal Baseball is literally the only video game in existence that I know of that makes this condition possible.

Never heard of that game, but it looks like something that I would play a lot if I had a 3ds.

1) I really need to play this game and regret overlooking it.

2) I like to think that name is a reference to Pappy Van Winkle, a prestigious/sought-after bourbon. It seems likely, considering that Japan has long been a strong market for the stuff.
