it was too depressing overall which wasnt fun to watch or compelling enough to get invested in
the trio were lame villains
dark willow was a powerful yet even lamer villain and really hated the direction they took willow that season

there were only 3 things i liked about season 6

tara was great and this was probably her best season (then they killed her off which pissed me off)
the musical episode is a top 10 buffy episode for sure
i liked that xander was the one to save the day in the season finale

but those good things dont make up for all the bad.
season 7 isnt much better but at least it was better.

season 1 is rough and cheesy but i give it a pass because it was still finding itself but it had a great finale
season 2 was when the writing got really better and it was this and season 3 which gave buffy its crediblity as a good show
season 3 was the best season in the entire series. best villains, great stakes and great moments all around
season 4 was mostly filler i didnt mind it but the main story arc felt like an after thought. like they had no idea where they wanted to go with the government experiment so they just made adam who was one of the least memorable villains
season 5 was kind of slow. a lot of it was spent repeating information we already knew but man would it have been a great way to end the series

i liked the ideas of season 7
not the execution. i liked it more than 6 however

im also in the minority on this but i didnt like angel season 5. the cordelia ruining of season 4 kind of soured me on the series and never recovered. her big comeback episode just finished nailing in the coffin. maybe if i rewatch it ill have a different opinion

but unlike buffy ive never rewatched angel. i loved angel but i only watched it when it was airing on the WB never on a streaming service

Agree 4 is the most forgettable though.

I think dark and gritty is what we typically lack the most in shows, especially during that time.

Before we started getting shows from overseas Buffy was one of the best dark/grim shows we got.

It's a weird season. Once More With Feeling and Tabula Rasa are two of the best, and then we have a four episode stretch with Spike & Buffy, magic = drugs, and Buffy working McDonald's lol

Season 4 had Riley and he was soooooo boring tho. Season 3 is tops for me. The Wish is probably my favorite episode of the whole series.

season 6 was the best season even though it as the least consistent and had the single worst episode of the series

it also had the single best episode and many of the other bests

which i think makes it slightly better than season 3 the most consistent season

Season 8 is the absolute worst though. Imagine reading comics and finding out Buffy gets a continuation. Then read about how a masked guy called Twilight manipulates the military into a war with the Slayers. Buffy getting powers like flight, superstrength and speed. The masked villain kills Giles. Only for the big reveal that he is Angel. Not Angelus...Angel.
The universe turned him evil, granted Buffy and Angel powers because it wants them to fuck and birth a new universe. Which they do while flying through mountains and such...after Buffy watched her former lover kill her father figure

Fray Future Slayer is one of the best ones tho, I'd love a show adaption of that, it would work in the canon as well.

I assume you're referring to After The Fall with Season 6 which I really liked. Subsequently Angel & Faith kicked all sorts of ass. I feel like there hasn't been a bad Angel comic set after the show ended.

everyone hated kennedy except for joss whedon who had a weird hard on for the character
she was described as the anti tara. a love interest who was the opposite of tara in every way
but the thing is tara was amazing and lovable
so kennedy ending up being annoying and intolerable

charmed beat out buffy for longest running action show to star a female lead
buffy ran for 7 seasons while charmed ran for 8
but buffy was so much better

It should have. I haven't read the entirety of S11 yet myself.
I did read the first 3 issues of the reboot and it's good so far. It changes some things like Anya owning the magic shop and Willow being gay right at the start. Robin Wood is also a teen. Spike and Dru are also in it from the get go and Dru's more lucid and connivingly evil rather than straight up insane. The art is great and I'm definitely interested to see how it plays out.

Yeah, I dislike Cordy not acting like a total bitch as well, but I feel there's an as of yet unseen reason for it. Or it could be they just want to move away from the 90's "evil queen bee" stereotype she started out as. At least Harmony is still as vapid as ever.
As for Willow's gf, that's a good thing. I was disappointed she starts out knowing she's gay because that cut outs a major part of the character's journey to discover who she is. Having her be with the love of her life right off the bat would cut out another significant part.

I don't know. It's complicated. And despite season six's low moments, it has some genre-defining key moments I wouldn't lose for anything. Spike's development in that season is one of those details. It's also why I can't get behind Spike. I'm not really sure I see Buffy getting with any of the men in this series.

season 3 did reveal the students in the town werent as in denial as they pretended to be. everyone being aware there town was full of monsters and that buffy was fighting them. its why she got the class protector award at prom
