School didn't start talking about nutrition until I was in high school.

Nutrition is pretty important just like LGBT. We need to stop fatness when they're young just as much as stopping hate.

I'm fat and wish they would have told me sneaking cookies and hot dog buns would do that when I was still skinny. Now it's a pain in the ass to lose weight

Nutrition and healthy eating habits is objectively way more important than learning about LGBT.

You made it sound like you took issue with LGBT education.

Sensible nutrition education sounds like a good idea to me. I don't know how effective it would be; most children who are fat are that way because their parents overfeed them. A ten year old telling their obese mom to measure out food portions is going to fall on deaf ears.

Wouldn't the same be true of LGBT issues?

Am I the only one who absolutely did have some nutrition classes? It wasn't a huge focus, but I definitely had a health class that taught the food pyramid and shit like that.

If you didn't have to watch a badly-outdated nutrition video while in school, your school was just doing it wrong.

So if you're talking about the curriculum in California:

The framework also includes guidance on nutrition and physical activity, tobacco and alcohol and skin care.

It *does* include nutrition.

Not really.

Teach kids that gay people exist and they might grow up not to be shitty. You can't really influence what their parents feed them unless you educate the parents. And, generally, the fat parents are the one who are too stubborn to listen to their kids or they'll just say, "I'm the parent, you do what I say."

Learning about LGBT awareness would have been much better than the total nonsense that was the food pyramid.
